Virginia ‘Ginny’ Klopf Holidy
July 5, 1931 - August 13, 2018
Virginia ‘Ginny’ Holiday left a significant gift from her estate to the MM&HS following her death in 2018. It is our great pleasure to celebrate her life as a thank you for her generosity.
Virginia Klopf was born on July 5, 1931 to Edward and Emma Klopf in Elizabeth, Illinois. Following her graduating from Elizabeth High School, Ginny attended the Dubuque School of Beauty. In 1951, she moved to Modesto, where she worked and eventually owned and operated her own beauty salons, most notibly the Sundial Beauty Shop located in the Sundial Lodge on McHenry Avenue.
Ginny married Clyde (Hap) Holidy in 1960. They enjoyed fishing, camping, water skiing and riding their Gold Wing motorcycle. Later they purchased a small parcel of land and raised almonds. Hap worked as a firefighter, and the couple invested in real-estate over the years.
During retirement, they split their time between Modesto, Pismo Beach and Port Townsend, Washington. After Hap's death, Ginny took time to travel. She enjoyed the diversity of other countries. Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother.
Ginny is survived by nephew Gregory Klopf (Daphne) and her close friend of many years, Joan Fischer.
Joan Fischer continues to cherish her friendship with Ginny and remembers her as a spunky opinionated woman, who always stood her group and never waivered from her convictions.
